I you have not them, you can download Anki there
and XMind there
Temporary Note : XMind 6 raise incompatibilities issues, please download a previous version at http://www.xmind.net/download/previous/
Thanks to Martin Therrien-Bélec for raising this issue.
Optionnal and only for anki 1.2 : If you want a nice style on your Anki cards please use this Anki plug-in
"CSS Modify: Style-Sheet input"
Why ? It makes work the style-sheet designed especially for the export [XMind→Anki]
Then download the application there :
There is no set-up file, just
- execute Xmind2Anki.jar if you use Mac or Linux
- execute Xmind2Anki.exe if you use Windows
There is a problem with ubuntu, I try to find where is the bug
if you read this line you are among first users, please
contact me
if you find a bug.
(1) Open a .xmind file: Click this button
(2) Select
a mode:
-
Inside the map:
anki document will be generated inside of the card (accessible from the
root topic)
-
Outside the map
(recommended): .anki document will be generated in a folder specified by
the user, and a link to the file will be created inside the root topic.
-
Both (not recommanded): 2 independent Anki files are created, inside and
outside.
(3) Choose
the folder where the
anki file will be created .
(4) Indicate
the location and
name the document XMind to be created (the application does not
overwrite the original document specified by the user, but create a
new one).
However, you can overwrite the old version by specifying the same
location:
(5) Launch the
application by that button
(6) Once the
execution is complete, open your new XMind file and click on the
Anki icon on the root topic, the anki file should pop out:
Note: The
default behavior consider that every
nodes are considered as "questions" and that all their child are the associated "answers"
Many options
are available to refine your default export options in
the tabs and filter options.
OPTIONS
DEFAULT TAB OPTIONS
- Boxes and
preselection preselection answer questions : if checked, every
nodes are considered as a "questions" and all their child are the associated "answers"
- Lock
boxes work with the tab "filter options", they indicate that the option
selected on the left is locked without exception (ie whatever the
filters are)
- All boxes
starting with "keep" concerned what is exported into Anki
cards.
- hyperlinks
- Notes
- Labels
- style
(bold, underline, colors ...)
- pictures
- Markers
- AVOID
empty topics can
replace an empty node by its children.
- AVOID
singleton prevents
the display of a node-response if it has no brother, the program adds
the child list of node-response
- Rank
filter is an interesting option to generate couples questions / answers
if and only if the topic-question is:
- [> X-close from the root topic ] X = forwardfilter
AND
- [< Y-close from a branch] Y = backward keeper
Explanation: End
nodes are generally the most interesting to keep, so the "Rank filter" eliminates
nodes that are too close to the central node or too far from the final
branches.
TAB FILTER_OPTIONS
Here a shord vid (1min) introducing the filters i recommend, and how to use it. It may also give a concrete example
here is the map related to the video
This tab is document
available only when you have selected a .XMind file.
Explanation: It
scans the
attributes of your .XMind file in order to allow you to associate
properties!
Filter_options
is ideal for users who want to use personnal codes to export their .XMind file in a precise way.
You can add as
many filters as you want, your options will be kept.
- box
when: corresponds
to the attribute chosen attribute.
This can be: a
color, a label, a particular style (bold underlined etc ...), a marker,
an image, etc ...
- DO box: matches
"do / do not"
(usefull to express the contrary of the selected action)
- 3 rd box (ACTION): allows you to associate a
property, this list of properties depends on the options you have in
"lock" tab default_options. The more you "lock"
, the less you have properties in this field. All the properties in this found
correspond to the the general options in default options options.
Only one stands out:
"replace by childs", this indicates that when the node in question is
taken as a question, he takes with him all his children-nodes.
This option is useful when you have to take a part of your map as an answer.
- 4th box (inheritance): This block is used to
inherit a property to the childrens, childrens of children..etc
(see 3rd example)
Note: when
two filters are
contradictory, the one which concerns the smallest number of items wins.
